The plan is the protection of the olive trees and the transplantation of some of them in a temporary place until they are permanently transferred to a properly designed spot inside the facilities of the new Airport. Some of them are proposed to be transplanted in specific parts of the region of Heraklion in order to become landmarks. Both the Mayor and the President of HPA agreed with the initiative and the next procedures that are to be carried out for the development of the project are expected.
